MEMPHIS, Tenn.--Feb. 16--Farmers, who've seen demand for farm-raised catfish grow but prices soften, have decided to fight back.

Starting Monday, Feb. 17, members of the Catfish Bargaining Association -- an organization with heavy representation from the Mid-South -- will hold their fish until all processors agree to pay them at least 75 cents a pound.

While some processors already are meeting that price, the association wants to make sure they turn the tide of lower prices. In recent weeks, average national prices have slipped to about 72 cents.
