When Oneida Ltd. closed its flatware factory in 2005, the company said its Sherrill plant couldn't compete with cheaper Asian factories.

Two former Oneida Ltd. managers set out to prove their former employer wrong. Their company, Sherrill Manufacturing Inc., made a profit from day one.

Now Chief Executive Officer Gregory Owens and President Matthew Roberts plan to quadruple their flatware sales, double overall sales to $24 million and grow the work force from 135 to 255 -- all within the next two years.
