NEW rules are being introduced in the Midlands as part of national changes designed to prevent future Dr Harold Shipman-style killings.
The Crematorium Regulations 2008 will come into force in the new year, replacing the current legislation, which dates from 1930.
The changes will allow grieving families to alert a medical referee to any concerns about unexpected symptoms or discrepancies in the case of their loved one's death.
It was thought Shipman, who murdered patients who attended his surgery in Hyde, Manchester, could have been caught sooner had the families of his victims been offered earlier access to ...
