The immense profit potential of animated feature films has sparked a lively bidding war for talent among some of the world's biggest entertainment companies.
Artists, once relegated to the bottom rungs of the Hollywood pay scale, now command salaries that would make Scrooge McDuck's eyes bug out of his head.
Throughout the '90s, Walt Disney Co. has taken the lion's share of the animated feature business. But its competitors have been firing back with animated-feature salvos like "All Dogs Go to Heaven," "Pagemaster," "Swan Princess" and others.
