Dec. 31--Does Christmas make people good, or is it that good people are just more visible at Christmastime?
Either way, I'm convinced that more people do more good at this time of year. Some personal examples:
I finished bell-ringing for the Salvation Army and was starting to deliver personal gifts when I heard insistent tapping on my window. As I turned, a smiling young woman motioned to me to lower the window.
Down it came, and before I could say more than "Merry Christmas!" she pointed to the Santa hat, beard and packages and asked, "Are you taking presents to people, and do you know of anyone who really needs ...
