The Elgin Symphony Orchestra and guest conductor Andrew Grams ring in the new year at the Hemmens Cultural Center Jan. 9-11, with a program featuring Brahms joyful Second Symphony.
Johannes Brahms found inspiration for his Second Symphony from his summer vacations in the Austrian Alps, and the work has become an audience favorite. Also on the program are "The Moldau," Smetanas beloved work portraying the Bohemian river rising and flowing through the countryside on its way to Prague, and cellist Matt Haimovitz performing Barbers Cello Concerto.
