'World's largest deposit of dinosaur fossils' found in China

London, Dec 31 (PTI) Paleontologists in China claim to have found the world's biggest deposit of dinosaur bones in the old city of Zhucheng in Shandong province on the country's eastern coast.

According to lead paleontologist Zhao Xijin, over 7,600 fossils -- mostly dating from the late Cretaceous period that is the era when the dinosaurs are believed to have become extinct -- have been recovered from a 980 ft-long pit near the old city over the last seven months and the number is rising.
