Instead of the usual horse-race predictions of the nation's retail winners and losers, Mike Kraus of Allbusiness.com suggests a more appropriate metaphor: a game of survivor. Who will win? Who will be voted off?
The winner is pretty clear. Wal-Mart has drawn more shoppers through its doors in recent weeks than J.C. Penney, Sears, Target and Toys `R' Us combined, according to surveys by America's Research Group.
