ANDY MURRAY got 2009 off to the perfect start by beating arch-rival Rafael Nadal in the inaugural final of the World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi yesterday.

It was also an emphatic way to celebrate the decision to ditch his management company for the agency that looks after David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Twenty-four hours after beating world No2 Roger Federer in the semi-finals of the exhibition event, Murray made it a dream double with a 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 win over world No1 Nadal which earned the Scot $250,000 ([pounds sterling]173,000).
