In July, after many starts and stops, the first section of Sound Transit's Link light rail service is scheduled to open, connecting downtown Seattle to Tukwila, and by year's end, continuing on to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
One question as yet unanswered about the new service is what passengers will have to pay for its use.
In a region where public transportation needs have long been served by bus systems, light rail's pricing plan could prove to be a determining factor in just how many people will view the service as an attractive alternative to increasingly crowded buses.
