Forst Dunnuck was expecting to see his son, Tom, and three grandchildren pull up to his house in Indiana on Thursday morning for a family holiday gathering.
Instead, a trooper from the Indiana State Police arrived at his door on Christmas Eve. Tom and two of the children had died in a car crash near Alexandria, Minn., less than 100 miles from their North Dakota home. Only Anna, 8, survived. She remains in fair condition at St. Cloud Hospital.
"He was on his way home for Christmas," Dunnuck said Thursday.
