BEIJING, Jan 6 Asia Pulse - China banned nearly 4,000 Party and government officials from joining more than 550 overseas group trips at public expense in the six months to the end of November, a top discipline official said here Monday.
Ma Wen, deputy secretary of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China, said 830,000 official passport-holders went abroad in that period, down18.9 percent year on year.
"Since the campaign was launched in last April, progress has been achieved in curbing overseas trips at public expense in China," Ma said at a video conference in Beijing.
