Many bodybuilders attempt to avoid any sodium in their diets for fear that it will make them appear smooth and bloated due to water retention under the skin. Many bodybuilders avoid sodium because traditional dietitians, doctors and scientists warn that sodium can increase blood pressure and the risk for cardiovascular disease. Yet FLEX has always maintained that unless it is within one week of a contest, a photo shoot or any other event where they need to appear ultraripped and "dry," most bodybuilders should not worry too much about their day-today sodium intake.
