European Commission alarmed by reduction in Russian gas exports to Europe

BRUSSELS. Jan 6 (Interfax) - The European Commission and the Czech Republic, as the country currently holding the rotating EU presidency, have made a joint statement to express concern over the negative developments in supplies of Russian gas to Europe through Ukraine.

Ferran Tarradellas Espuny, a spokesman for the European Commission Energy Directorate, said the European Commission was aware that gas supplies to a number of EU member-states were reduced or halted on Tuesday, which marked a significance difference from the previous day.
