Feb. 26--Dow Jones family dissident William Cox 3d blasted the company yesterday for its decision to boost its lagging Telerate financial news service by changing the name.
While the name change -- to Dow Jones Markets -- "certainly makes some sense" from a marketing standpoint, Cox said the company should unload the service.
"Just because they've changed the name doesn't mean that any of the measures that they've taken are good ones," he said.
The name change is the opening gambit in a $650 million effort by the company to boost Telerate, which has been staggered in fierce competition with Bloomberg and Reuter.
