INTRODUCTION
The clam, Ruditapes decussatus is most preferred by consumers in Galicia (NW Spain) and also the most valuable. Culture of this marine bivalve is clearly limited by the availability of seed (juveniles). There are obvious advantages to manipulating the gonadal cycle and spawning period of the clams so that adults can be spawned either earlier or later than occurs naturally.
