Feb. 27--Gail Evans, who has been with CNN since its start, became the cable TV channel's highest-ranking woman executive Wednesday when she was named executive vice president.
She is now one of six executive vice presidents who report directly to CNN Newsgroup Chairman W. Thomas Johnson. Evans will sit on CNN Newsgroup's executive committee.
Evans had been responsible for booking guests on the Newsgroup's various channels, which include CNN, Headline News, CNNfn and CNN/SI. She also created "CNN & Co." and "Burden of Proof," two talk shows.
