"Tropic Thunder," a spoof of big- budget Hollywood action movies, remained the top film at U.S. and Canadian theaters, collecting $16.1 million in weekend ticket sales for Viacom Inc.s DreamWorks SKG studio.
"Tropic Thunder," starring Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr. and Jack Black, helped Viacom narrow the $200 million lead held by Time Warner Inc. in 2008 domestic ticket sales before this weekend, according to researcher Box Office Mojo LLC. The movie, with a $92 million production budget, has taken in $65.7 million in sales since its Aug. 13 release, Media By Numbers said.
