PITTSBURGH Scoring 14 runs will mask a lot of problems, and the Cubs had plenty of problems in a sloppy 14-9 victory Tuesday night over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
First, the good news for the Cubs. Catcher Geovany Soto had a career night with 7 RBI, capped by a 3-run double in a 7-run eighth inning.
The Cubs reached double figures in runs for the second straight night, improving to 82-50, putting them 32 games over .500 for the first time since Sept. 15, 1984.
Now for those pesky problems.
