Legendary Academy Award-winning actor Sidney Poitier, world-renowned opera superstar Jessye Norman and veteran "60 Minutes" news correspondent Ed Bradley recently were honored by New York's Associated Black Charities (ABC) at the 11th annual Black History Makers Awards Dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York.
Charlayne Hunter-Gault of the "Jim Lehrer News Hour" was the emcee for the ceremony.
Presenters for the awards were CNN's Bernard Shaw, Washington, D.C., attorney Vernon Jordan and legendary actor-humanitarian Harry Belafonte. Shaw presented Bradley with his award, Jordan presented Norman's and Belafonte presented Poitier's.
