TAIPEI, Jan 8 Asia Pulse - An estimated 202,000 Taiwanese workers have been affected by their company's unpaid leave policy since December last year due to their companies' business performing badly amid the lingering global financial crisis, the Cabinet-level Council of Labor Affairs (CLA) reported Wednesday.

Citing findings of a survey carried out by the council, CLA Minister Wang Ju-hsuan said 23 per cent of the companies, which hire more than 200 workers, have taken measures to cut costs, such as reducing work hours, requiring employees take unpaid leave or slashing salaries, to cope with financial difficulties.
