Democrat Mark Udall and Republican Bob Schaffer departed from their menu of well-chewed-over issues to take on some new topics during two debates Thursday.
But the men remained as far apart as ever in the positions they are staking out during their campaign for Colorado's open U.S. Senate seat.
The first debate, sponsored by Denver's 7, the League of Women Voters and the Denver Bar Association, took place in the early afternoon.
The second - and fourteenth joint appearance of the campaign - came at night at an Allied Jewish Federation of Colorado forum.
