Jan. 9--Pottsville now has seven fire companies instead of eight.
On Wednesday night, the Pottsville Fire Department voted to eliminate Greenwood Hill Fire Company from its ranks. The company has been suspended since Nov. 20, 2007, according to Pottsville fire Chief Todd March.
"I have mixed feelings. I feel bad about eliminating a fire company, but they haven't done too much to help themselves in the past year. To give them more time, I don't know if that's the answer," March said Thursday afternoon.
