OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE to lead has been documented thoroughly among groups of workers in battery smelters, gun-metal foundries, and other similar industries.[1-3] Specific measures could minimize exposure to urban workers. Multiple occupational exposures have also been documented; lead poisoning has been reported in individuals who work in arts and crafts and in those involved in firearms training and the making of pottery.[1-4] In addition, the use of lead-glazed ceramic items for food storage, meal preparation, and food consumption has raised concern about lead poisoning.[1]
