The Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board has approved one-year extensions for two companies holding offshore exploration licences that were scheduled to expire at the end of last year.

The deepwater licences are held by Canadian Superior Energy Inc. of Calgary and BEPCo Canada Co., the board said in a news release issued late Tuesday. Canadian Superior will pay a refundable extension fee of $364,445, board spokesman Tim Church said Wednesday.
