LOOKING FOR NEW WAYS to spread the joy of playing music, Joe Blumenthal of Downtown Sounds in Northampton, Massachusetts, recently donated a ukulele to the local public library. Any library card holder in sixth grade or higher can check out the uke for three weeks and then renew it once. While the ukulele is listed in the library's card catalog, most locals have learned about it from posters, press releases, and the library website, and the response has been overwhelming.
