Jan. 11--Godolphin Stable's Midshipman highlights a field of local connections who are Eclipse Award finalists. The award winners will be announced on Monday, Jan. 26 in Miami, Fla.
Midshipman, the winner of the 2008 Bessemer Trust Breeders' Cup Juvenile, raced in the silks of Darley Stable, is owned by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and was bred by Robert and Janice McNair's Stonerside Stable.
The Kentucky-bred colt is a finalist in the 2-year-old colt and gelding category. The son of Unbridled's Song was broken and trained in Aiken by Tim Jones. Godolphin is a finalist in the owner category.
