Phorm is considering using financial incentives to encourage users to sign up to its ad targeting technology.
new media age understands the controversial ISP behavioural targeting company, which works by serving relevant ads to consumers based on their surfing habits, is undertaking research to discover what kind of offers users would regard as valuable enough to sign up.
It's thought promotions could include money off phone or broadband bills. They would be promoted online, first to customers of ISPs using Phorm's technology, such as BT, but could eventually be advertised to the mass market if Virgin Media and TalkTalk begin to use the ...
