It is, perhaps, not altogether inappropriate in selecting an object to celebrate the seventy-fifth anniversary of The Magazine ANTIQUES, to choose something that was acquired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City the same month as the first issue of the magazine, something that was illustrated in the magazine's first year, and something that has been reproduced time and again in subsequent issues.
