There is no denying that the computer is a powerful tool. With scores of art software packages already available and countless others being developed, there is practically no limit to what the computer can achieve if the artist has the proper knowledge and skills.
Behind all the glitz and glamour attributed to it, however, the computer is still just a machine in a box. It's a complex tool capable of many techniques, yet to make significant imagery the artist needs to guide the computer much like he would a fine paintbrush. The notion that the computer does all the work is false, rather it does only what the artist commands it to.
