Bendamustine hydrochloride (Treanda[R], Cephalon, Inc.) is a novel bifunctional mechlorethamine derivative approved in March 2008 by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) (Cephalon, Inc., 2008).
