Mar. 11--Doubletree Hotels has opened its first company-owned hotel in San Antonio, with the conversion of the Red Lion Hotel at McCullough Avenue and Loop 410 West.
San Antonio has been the most requested city in the nation by Doubletree customers in recent years, said Ron Johnston, general manager of the 292-room hotel.
Phoenix-based Doubletree now has 11 hotels in Texas with its company-owned properties and the recent acquisition of Red Lion. Johnston said four Red Lion properties were put on a fast track for conversion to Doubletree. The other properties converted March 10 are in Salt Lake City, Sonoma County, Calif., and San Diego.
