Mar. 11--The Teamsters union and United Parcel Service, its largest employer, go to the bargaining table today 3 1/2 years after they flirted with a strike in contentious talks that went two months past the July 31 deadline.
There's not much chance of a walkout this time, observers say; there's just too much at stake for both sides. But that doesn't mean it will be a smooth process.
The biggest bump in the road looks to be issues involving the Sandy Springs-based company's part-time employees.
"We have to stop the bleeding of these part-time people," said local Teamsters member Ken Redding, who is on the national bargaining ...
