RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, March 12 /CNW-PRN/ -- Affordable, high-quality Internet access becomes available to rural America this month with the same ease of use and speed that metropolitan areas have long enjoyed. An agreement between the National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative (NRTC) and Nortel (Northern Telecom) will enhance the ability of the nation's rural telephone and rural electric industries to develop new local Internet service or improve existing service as Internet Service Providers (ISPs). The agreement supports NRTC's new national service, ``nrtc.net.''
