A FORMER Plaid Cymru AM came under fire last night for eating out at public expense with the former Auditor General for Wales - months after he stepped down from his role.

Details of the meals for two - costing pounds 159.13 and pounds 169.15 - are in a list of expenses claimed by Sir John Bourn, which were disclosed by the National Audit Office.

Sir John was Auditor General for Wales from the Assembly's creation until March 2005. He carried on as Auditor General in England until January last year.
