NEW YORK - Treatments for urinary tract infection (UTI) are emerging as a major segment of the feminine hygiene category in chain drug stores.
Between 24 million and 30 million women experience the pain and distress of UTI at least once a year, and the condition is estimated to cause more than 7 million lost workdays annually.
Suppliers providing over-the-counter remedies for UTI include Breckenridge Pharmaceutical Inc. and the Advanced Care Products division of Johnson & Johnson, while Forest Laboratories is offering a newly approved prescription treatment.
