Emerson Robbins, who runs his namesake engagement ring company in Seattle, likens the current economic climate to a traffic barrier.
The customers are piled up behind the barrier, but once the economy recovers, the barrier will be lifted, and the companies that are still around will be poised to collect those sales. His business will survive, he said.
"Things are tough," said Robbins, who owns E.E. Robbins. "Anyone that tells you differently is not being honest. I have to also say that I think that it was as much to do with weather as it was the economy in December."
