NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 14, 1997--The Czech Republic Fund Inc., a closed-end management investment company that seeks long term capital appreciation by investing primarily in securities of Czech issuers, today announced unaudited results for the six months ended February 28, 1997.

The Fund commenced investment operations on Sept. 30, 1994.

For the six months ended February 28, 1997, the Fund's net investment loss was $778,914, equal to $0.13 per share, as compared to net investment loss of $519,389, equal to $0.09 per share, for the six months ended February 29, 1996.
