Patterson, Cherry make moves to run for governor
Lt. Gov. John Cherry and Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson are taking steps toward running for governor.
Cherry announced Thursday he has formed a committee to seek the office next year. Granholm can't run because of term limits.
Patterson planned to announce over the weekend that he also would explore a run for the office.
Other possible Republican candidates include Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land, Attorney General Mike Cox, Domino's CEO David Brandon, U.S. Reps. Pete Hoekstra, Mike Rogers and Candice Miller and Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard.
