The title implies that this book is geared specifically toward northern Maluku. In fact articles cover central, southern and southeastern Maluku as well. Maluku is composed of diverse ethnic groups with unique histories and cultural adaptations at one level, but the people of Maluku, on a different level, share a common realization that they all are part of a larger world known as Maluku.
The unity or oneness of various groups in Maluku is maintained through diversity. That is, the group, defined at any level, is only complete by maintaining a variety of complimentary and interdependent elements, and most importantly, a repertoire of different elements. This is ...
