According to recent research from the United Kingdom, "Cavitation in lung tumours has been considered as a specific clinical subentity related to worse prognosis and reduced survival. This study was performed to assess glycolysis as maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) on F-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose PET imaging, a known prognostic factor in lung cancer and an index of tumor aggression in cavitated tumours."
