At 27, Reginald Hubbard was the youngest operations manager in his region for Sears. With a degree in management and a minor in psychology, he had some definite ideas about the retail business, and he didn't like the direction Sears was going.
On a friend's advice, he checked into the automobile business and found that Chrysler Corp., Ford Motor Co. and General Motors all offered dealer training programs.
Deciding that Chrysler's approach was most aggressive, he moved his family from Charleston, W. Va., to Chattanooga, Tenn., and completed Chrysler's two-year training program in nine months.
