NEW YORK -- The slower-than-expected growth in air purifier sales could give makers of the devices opportunities to experiment with technological advances and enhance performance of the devices in 1997, according to experts who spoke to HFN.
Such developments come just in time. With CADR (clean air delivery rate) on the verge of becoming the performance benchmark for the industry, product effectiveness is tantamount to strong sales in 1997. "Retailers and consumers have to be satisfied with category performance, otherwise it won't survive," says Hans Troelstra, product manager at Norelco Consumer Products.
