Eldridge "Squid" Garron planned to sleep on his boat at Brier Island, Nova Scotia, so he could get an early start fishing on Wednesday, Dec 3. For two days prior, he'd taken part in an impromptu protest launched by lobstermen in southwestern Nova Scotia.
Garron had just returned from a meeting in Yarmouth, where a majority of the 573 lobster license holders voted to end the protest. "They figured we aren't going to gain by holding back our lobsters, and a little bit of money is better than none," Garron said.
