Parallel Plurality

Dear Alfred:

I am about to purchase a laser printer and an external Iomega Zip drive. I understand that the Zip drive has a pass-through connection for the printer, but I have heard about conflicts between the Zip drive and some laser printers. My computer still has a slot available.

Can I simply install a second parallel port card so that I can connect these two devices separately? If it can be done, then how do I configure the second port for either the printer or the Zip drive? Thank you.
