WORCESTER - With the economy in a recession and more residents struggling to pay their bills, the Internal Revenue Service and a local coalition joined forces yesterday to draw attention to a little-known tax credit that many working poor and low-income workers do not take advantage of.
The Worcester Earned Income Tax Credit Coalition, the city and 22 partners, held a press conference at City Hall to publicize the Earned Income Tax Credit and free income tax preparation and filing assistance that will be available at four sites in the city for qualified taxpayers.
