I am increasingly wondering where the Government is going. Last week's Bank of England interest rate cut, bringing the base rate down to 1.5 per cent, is a case in point. What is it trying to achieve?
During the holidays, we went to see a friend of ours. He and his partner have been trying to sell their home for nine months, longer even than we have.
They both work in financial services and he spent most of last year taking an early-morning flight from Southampton to Manchester - hardly very environmentally friendly but it gets him into work for 9am on Mondays.
