From Stamford to Shelton, the Fairfield County office market finished 1996 with another impressive performance. According to the 1997 Rostenberg-Doern Corporate Real Estate Report, 841,511 square feet of office space was absorbed in Fairfield County in 1996, up from 445,210 absorbed in 1995.
The county-wide vacancy rate was 13 percent, down from 15.4 percent at year-end 1995. Construction activity county-wide totaled 650,000 square feet, all of which is in one building - the new world headquarters for Swiss Bank in Stamford.
