SHIPBUILDERS have breathed a sigh of relief after the Government confirmed a Westcountry yard will construct the bases of two "super aircraft carriers" in a deal worth [pounds sterling]50 million securing 150 jobs in the process.
The bows and other sections of the two vast new vessels, HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales, are to be built at Babcock Marine's Appledore yard in North Devon, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced yesterday.
