State transportation officials may not have to go far for a replacement ferry serving the Ketchikan Airport. Alaska Ship and Drydock in Ketchikan is the low bidder for the contract.

The company's bid of just more than $7 million was lower than proposals from Foss Maritime Co. and Nichols Brothers Boat Builders Inc. of Freeland, Wash., which came in at $8.2 million and $8.8 million.
